Scholarship awards under international agreements and resolutions of the Government

Main information

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic annually offers scholarships to foreign nationals within the framework of international agreements and resolutions of the Government.

Scholarships can only be granted to candidates officially recommended for the award by the appropriate authorities in the eligible countries. The categories of eligible recipients are specified separately by each of the international agreements arranged with the countries concerned, resp. in the relevant resolutions of the Government.

Scholarships are intended to support short-term or mid-term study at public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic, usually not leading to obtaining the academic degree, and participation in summer language courses organised by public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic.

The precondition for granting scholarship is to obtain a consent of the hosting higher education institution which determines the conditions of admission and requirements concerning the language of tuition.

Scholarship is not intended for foreigners with a permanent residence in the Czech Republic.

The scholarship application deadlines are stipulated by individual International agreements or the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Information is regularly published on the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Where and how to solve this service

The documents are sent to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports via the relevant office abroad.

In future, the option of personal/correspondence processing will be completely abolished and fully replaced by electronic submission.

Appeal options

Pursuant to Article 152 subsection 1 of the Act No. 500/2004 Sb., Code of Administrative Procedure, in connection with Article 105 of the Higher Education Act, the Participant in the Proceedings is entitled to file an appeal against issued Decision with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Karmelitská 529/5, 118 12 Praha 1 - Malá Strana, within 15 days from the date of delivery of the Decision. The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports shall determine the appeal.

The entitlement to the scholarship awarded shall be forfeited when not complying with the conditions of granted scholarship.
