Main information
- The costs of essential medical treatment provided to Czech insured persons are reimbursed in the same way as for insured persons from the country in which the treatment is provided. As a rule, the foreign provider is reimbursed by the local health insurance fund. The insured person is required to reimburse the costs that would be charged to local insured persons.
- To be reimbursed by the local health insurance provider for the treatment or care provided, care must be provided in publicly funded health facilities. If treatment is provided in a health facility that is not linked to the public system, the insured person should not be required to pay for the essential health care. The cost of providing such healthcare may only be reimbursed up to the level of reimbursement provided in Czechia or up to the amount actually incurred.
This applies to you if
You, the insured person, have received necessary medical care. You are entitled to reimbursement only up to the amount of the established reimbursement in Czechia or up to the amount actually incurred.
