Admission to Shortened Study for a School-Leaving Certificate

Main information

Secondary schools that offer secondary education with a school-leaving examination (maturita) may also offer shortened study programmes in the same field of education. The shortened study lasts 1 to 2 years in full-time form (non-full-time study may be extended by one additional year).

The school's headteacher may, but is not obliged to, require a school-specific entrance examination, the content and format of which must be in accordance with the relevant educational framework. A standardised entrance examination does not apply.

Information about whether a particular school offers shortened study in a given field can be obtained directly from the school. Unlike post-secondary study programmes, shortened study programmes are not listed in the national register of schools and educational institutions. They are simply a modified version of the school's curriculum for the relevant field.
