Everyone who drives a motor vehicle must have a valid driving licence. Once you have passed your driving test after completing driving school, you will apply for your first licence.

If you are a holder of a Group B, B1, AM, A1, A2, A or T driving licence, the licence will be issued with a validity period of 10 years.
If you also hold one of the following vehicle groups - C1, C, D1, D, C1+E, C+E, D1+E or D+E, the licence will be valid for 5 years.
By exchanging a driving licence of a member state or a driving licence issued by a state of the European Economic Area, you will avoid dealing with unpleasant situations, e.g. in case of loss or theft of your driving licence issued by another member state or issued by a state of the European Economic Area.
You can choose whether you want to collect your licence in 20 or 5 days. Depending on the speed of issuance, the price of the administrative fee for issuing the licence also varies. You will then pay the fee in person at the office and collect your new licence within the chosen time limit.
You can then pick up your licence at a drop-off point (delivery service box) if you request it, or at the municipal office of the municipality with extended jurisdiction.
Habitually residecy in the Czech Republic means:
1. for at least 185 days in a calendar year for reasons of personal ties, which means in particular cohabitation, family ties, ownership or rental of real estate, and, if applicable, also for reasons of business, other self-employment or dependent work in the Czech Republic, or
2. because of personal ties and you return to this place regularly, although you are carrying out business, other self-employed activity or dependent work in another country, unless the exercise of such activity in another country is limited to a fixed period.

You can apply for a new licence in a free form. In the application you will provide your personal details (name, surname, date of birth, birth number, home address and the reason for applying for a new licence).
