Main information
Abroad, you can apply to the embassy of the Czech Republic for a travel card if you do not have a valid travel document, e.g. due to the loss or theft of a passport. The embassy of the Czech Republic will issue you a travel card for an individual trip to the Czech Republic or another state for the time needed to complete the trip, e.g. for 14 days.
If you find yourself without a valid travel document (outside the European Union) in a country where there is no Czech Embassy, you can ask the embassy of another EU country to issue an EU emergency travel document. This travel document will be issued to you by the embassy of another EU state in order to return to the Czech Republic or to another country in which you live.
This applies to you if
A Czech Embassy issues a travel card in justified cases, especially in the event of the loss or theft of a travel document while abroad. If the Czech Embassy can verify the identity and nationality of the applicant, it will issue a travel card, usually while you wait.
The embassy of another EU Member State shall proceed in a similar manner when an application is submitted for the issue of an EU emergency travel document.
