As a parent, you can choose the monthly amount of the parental allowance This service is only used to change the monthly amount. The daily assessment base for determining the maternity or sickness benefit in connection with the birth or adoption of a child is decisive for the election of the monthly amount of the parental allowance if this can be determined for at least one of the parents.

You are providing full-time care for the youngest child in the family, who has not reached the age of four, and you want to change the amount of the granted parental allowance.

You can use this service if you want to change the amount of the awarded parental allowance at any time during the period you are entitled to the allowance. However, you can only change the amount once every 3 months.

When submitting an application to change the chosen amount of parental allowance you need to fill in the Choosing the Parental Allowance Amount form.

If you are applying for a parental allowance for two or more children born at the same time and you want to choose a monthly parental allowance amount exceeding CZK 10 000 or exceeding CZK 15 000, the following confirmation must also be provided when you choose the parental allowance amount (this does not apply if you provided these documents when you originally applied for the parental allowance):

• Confirmation of entitlement to a benefit (compensation) affecting your entitlement to and the amount of parental allowance (only to be submitted by a parent who received sickness benefits from the district social security administration/Prague Social Security Administration/Brno Municipal Social Security Administration in connection with the birth and a parent who received a benefit from a payer other than the district social security administration/Prague Social Security Administration/Brno Municipal Social Security Administration)

or

• Confirmation of the daily assessment base affecting the parental allowance amount (submitted by a parent who has not received a maternity allowance but for whom a daily assessment base can be determined, which will be used to choose the parental allowance amount).

Jaký má služba benefit

During the period when you are receiving the parental allowance, the situation in your family may change (for example, you may improve your family’s social situation through gainful employment during the period you are entitled to the parental allowance).

In such a case, you might have different needs concerning the period during which you receive the parental allowance – for example, by increasing the monthly amount of the parental allowance you will shorten the allowance period as the total amount will be used up sooner.

Možnosti odvolání

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the parental allowance election procedure, you can appeal against the decision within 15 days of notification of the decision. You can lodge an appeal at the regional branch of the Czech Labour Office that decided on the benefit. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs will then decide on your appeal.
