Application for inclusion in the preparatory class of a primary school

In the preparatory class of a primary school, children may be educated in the last year before the start of compulsory education, where inclusion in the preparatory class is expected to compensate for their development, preferably children who have been granted a deferral of compulsory education. 

The decision on the placement of a child in the preparatory class of a primary school is made by the headmaster at the request of the child's legal representative and on the basis of a written recommendation from the school counselling facility, which is attached to the application by the legal representative. 

This applies to you if

1. The school counselling facility recommended that your child be educated in the preparatory class of the primary school because he or she has been granted a deferral of compulsory education.
2. O assumes that education in the preparatory class will compensate for his or her development and help him or her in the transition to compulsory education.

When to use this service

In the last year before the start of compulsory education, i.e. until 31 August of the year preceding the child's compulsory education, or until the completion of the preparatory class.

What you need if you are using this service

It is necessary to submit an application for inclusion in the preparatory class of the primary school.

There is no central form, sometimes schools have their own forms on their websites.

The necessary information that the application must contain:

• the name and surname of the child and the legal representative,
• the date of birth of the child,
• the foreign national's citizenship,
• the place of permanent residence (the foreign national's place of residence),
• contact details (phone, e-mail, eventually. Data box ID),
• date of application and
• signature of legal representative.

The condition is the recommendation of the school counselling facility for the inclusion of the child in the preparatory class of the primary school. 

The school may also request further information, e.g. on the postponement of compulsory schooling.

Where and how to solve this service

Inclusion of the child in the preparatory class can be solved in the nearest pedagogical-psychological counseling centre.

The application is submitted by the legal representative to the headmaster of the primary school, typically in a primary school established by a municipality or a union of municipalities established in the school district in which the pupil has his permanent residence.

In the case of a foreigner, the pupil's place of residence (the so-called catchment school), unless the legal representative chooses a school other than a catchment school for the pupil.

What you need if you are using this service

It is not possible to complete the service only by electronic means because of the necessary examination of the child in the pedagogical-psychological counselling centre.

However, it is possible to use elements of electronic communication (e.g. e-mail) to order a child for examination or to send an examination report to the headmaster of the school.

The application form for admission to the preparatory class is not centrally determined, the individual application template is usually published on the website of the school where the child is applying to the preparatory class.

The necessary information that the application must contain:
