  About Portal
The Ministry of Informatics CR administers the Portal of Public Administration in accordance with law No. 365/2000 Sb. on information systems in public administration. The Portal is being created gradually, in several interlinked phases and takes advantage of a number of projects in public administration and local government. The current version of the Portal with its services represents only the first stage of the project. The Portal administrator is aware of its limitations. However, some problems may only be revealed in live operation, thanks to feedback from users. Therefore we have decided to launch the the online testing version of Portal despite its limitations. Please, keep this in mind when using the Portal.

The services currently offered by the Portal are provided based on 4 mutually interconnected databases:
  1. Legislation
  2. Contact list for the public administrative authorities
  3. Your life - guidance through key events of your life
  4. Do it online - transactional services
The second phase will begin at the end of 2003. In this phase, a new section with information related to foreigners will be completed in English. This section will be designed for foreigners, both those living in the Czech Republic and those visiting as tourists.

The English version of the Portal will include, in addition to the welcome page and information about the Czech Republic and European Union, links to tourism and the category "Your life", which will be adjusted to the needs and interests of the target groups: both tourists and foreigners living in the Czech Republic. The former group will be able to find information such as how to obtain a visa, what to do in case of illness, theft, car accident, etc. The latter will be provided with information concerning work permits, job contracts, requests for permanent residence, etc.

Furthermore, there will be an English version of the contact list with English standard names and the English equivalents of administrative department types. The list will be amended to include embassies, consulates, foreign police agencies and police stations.

In addition to the Ministry of Informatics CR and Český Telecom, the following companies are co-operating on the Portal project: IBM, Microsoft, Siemens Business Services, European Business Enterprise and Empire. The key partners from public administration are the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Czech Statistical Office, the Czech Post Office, the Association of Municipalities, the Pilsen Region, the Vysocina Region, the District of Prague 5.

Data from local government are obtained from the ePUSA project - Electronic Portal of Municipal Authorities. Information concerning the support of commerce and export of small and medium enterprises are derived from the BusinessInfo Portal, which was created by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The first phase of the project started with the introduction of a Portal prototype at the conference Local and Regional Information Society 2003 in Hradec Králové. This phase was completed by a launch of the Portal into live operation in September 2003.

Thank you for your visit.
