Taxicab registration (Taxicab sticker)

Main information

A taxi service can only be operated by a registered vehicle (hereinafter only „taxicab“). Taxicab registration is primary condition for runing a taxi business.

The transport office will issue a taxicab sticker, which must placed on the windshield of the taxicab.

This applies to you if

You possess a trade license for road motor passenger transport operated by vehicles up to nine people and you want to do a business in domestic passenger transport on demand.

When to use this service

You have to register your taxicab before you start running a taxi services.

Service settlement

What you need if you are using this service

If you apply in person, you must prove:

• your identity and right to act on behalf of the carrier.

In your free-form written application specify:

• carrier identification,
• license plate, car manufacturer and model,
• the taximeter type and serial number or information that car will not be equipped with a taximeter,
• the address to which the taxicab sticker is sent, if not picked up at the transport office.

Where and how to solve this service

You can apply in person or by letter at your local transport office (municipality with extended powers where you have a registered office).

Registration of the vehicle and issuance of the taxicab sticker is usually carried out by the transport office immediately, within 30 days at the latest.

How much will you pay

Taxi registration fee is 1000 CZK.

With a taxicab you can operate taxi services everywhere in the Czech Republic.

Sanctions

Carriers face a fine of up to CZK 350,000, drivers up to CZK 50,000 and unreliability for three years for operating a taxi service with an unregistered car.
