Verification of higher education diplomas and diploma supplements

Main information

If you need to present a higher education diploma obtained in the Czech Republic abroad, you must first apply to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for verification of the diploma, i.e. its legalisation. The legalization confirms the authenticity of the diploma and its supplement.

What you need if you are using this service

Higher education diploma, diploma supplements and stamps in the right amount. 

It is possible to legalize originals or certified copies of diplomas and diploma supplements. Any official certification must be provided in the Czech Republic. Copies in the Czech Republic will be officially certified by any notary, municipal/city authority or the Czech Post Office. An officially certified copy can also be obtained from Czech embassies abroad. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports does not issue certified copies.

If processed by mail, legalization is granted within 30 days of delivery to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

How much will you pay

For each individual document you wish to legalize, you must pay an administrative fee in the form of a stamp in the amount of CZK 100.

The number of documents is decisive here, not the number of pages. The diploma and the supplement to the diploma are considered as two documents for the purpose of legalisation and therefore two stamps worth CZK 100 are required for their legalisation, i.e. a total of CZK 200.
