If you have a permanent residence permit, the permit itself does not need to be extended. What needs extending is only the validity of the permanent residence permit document.
This applies to you if
You have a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic and the permit is about to expire.
When to use this service
For third-country nationals, no later than the last day of validity of your current document, but no earlier than 90 days before its expiry.
For EU citizens and their family members, no later than 15 days after the expiry date of your current document, and no earlier than 90 days before its expiry date.

You can apply in person at a Ministry of the Interior office or by post.
If you want to apply in person, make an appointment online or by phone beforehand.
How much will you pay
Third-country nationals:
- CZK 2 500,
- for persons under 15 years of age CZK 1 000.
EU citizens and their family members:
If you apply in person, the administrative fee must be paid by credit card at a Ministry of the Interior office.
If you apply by post, the administrative fee must be paid by bank transfer via the payment details generator on the Information Portal for Foreigners.

What is the benefit of this service
This will extend the validity of your permanent residence permit and prevent any inconvenience that might arise if you present an expired one.
Appeal options
You can appeal against the decision within 15 days of the delivery of the decision. You can file the appeal in person or send it by mail (or electronically) to the given office of the MOI CR or to the head office of the MOI.
