If you completed some prior education before studying at a higher vocational school and you have proof of this, it is possible for the principal of the higher vocational school to recognise this education so that you do not have to retake the course or even the whole year of study. In terms of the content of prior learning, a distinction is made between comprehensive education and partial education.
Comprehensive education is considered to be in particular successfully completed education at a higher vocational school or university in the Czech Republic or abroad, which is evidenced by proof of its successful completion or in another demonstrable way (graduation certificate, university diploma, etc.).
Partial education is defined e.g. as the successful completion of only some years of another higher vocational school or university in the Czech Republic or abroad, or other education, especially in vocational courses or language school.
If you can prove in your application to the principal of the higher vocational school that you have obtained this education by means of a credible document (graduation certificate, etc.), the principal of the school should recognise it, as you are legally entitled to have your education recognised. In practice, this means that the principal of the higher vocational school will always exempt a student from teaching and evaluating those courses (or parts thereof) whose content and scope is identical to the course of study that has been completed and is being currently studied. However, this exemption applies only education itself, i.e. school attendance and assessment of the course of education, it does not apply to discharge as an examination. As the above-mentioned educational documents are of permanent validity, there is also no time limit for the validity of the claim for recognition of the comprehensive education obtained.
In the case of a partial qualification, it is at the discretion of the principal of the higher vocational school whether or not, and to what extent, they will recognise this partial qualification (based on an assessment of its content and scope) in your education at the higher vocational school.
There is no legal entitlement to recognition of partial qualifications. Its sufficiency for recognition shall be assessed by the principal on the basis of evidence of such education, unless more than 10 years have elapsed since the date of attainment, or on the basis of an examination stipulated by the principal. The principal may recognise education obtained in only some subjects or only some years completed at another higher vocational school (even foreign) or in another field of higher vocational education, conservatory, higher vocational school, or other education, for example in vocational courses or language school.

Where can I get a form to apply for recognition?
There is no defined form for the application, but the usual method of submission is sufficient, showing who is making the application, the matter to which it relates and what is proposed, including identification of the person making the application and, where appropriate, the address for delivery. Alternatively, you can use the form published by the school itself on its website. Don't forget to attach certified copies of your education documents.
