Main information
During your studies at a tertiary vocational school, you may apply (as a student) for a transfer to another tertiary vocational school.
The decision on the transfer is made by the director of the school to which you are applying as a student.
When considering a transfer, especially if it involves a change of field of study, the director may set a bridging examination and determine its:
- content,
- scope,
- date, and
- assessment criteria.
This applies to you if
You wish to transfer from one tertiary vocational school to another for personal, health or other reasons.
As a student of a tertiary vocational school, you were admitted to an accredited engineering programme after completing grammar school.
During your first year, you found that other students had more extensive subject-related knowledge, as they had progressed from a secondary technical school with a vocational focus.
Given the less successful ongoing assessments and emerging difficulties with obtaining credits, you may decide to transfer to another tertiary vocational school offering fields of study that better match your previous education.
When to use this service
You may transfer at any time during your studies at a tertiary vocational school. However, in your final year you may face time constraints relating to the preparation of your graduation project and the final examination (absolutorium) in the newly chosen field of tertiary vocational education.

Frequently asked questions
Is a transfer to another tertiary vocational school subject to an examination?
When deciding on a student's transfer, especially if it involves a change of field of study, the director may set a bridging examination and determine its content, scope and assessment criteria.
The same applies to professional practice/traineeship if it has already been completed in the first year.
