In Czechia, the use of road transport vehicles with four or more wheels and a maximum permissible weight of more than 3.5 tonnes on motorways and certain sections of Class I roads is subject to tolls.
The toll is determined based on the type of vehicle and the distance travelled on the toll road. The amount of the toll is determined through the Electronic Toll System, which makes it possible to determine, in particular, the distance travelled by vehicles and to register toll data, collect tolls and check on toll payments.
All road transport vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of more than 3.5 tonnes using motorways and tolled sections of Class I roads must be registered in the Electronic Toll System. The components of the Electronic Toll System include an approved electronic device that must be fitted to every vehicle using toll roads. The electronic device is non-transferable and its use is tied to a specific vehicle registered in the Electronic Toll System.
