As a self-employed person (hereinafter referred to as 'self-employed person'), you are required to notify the competent social security administration of the date on which you commenced self-employment. Such notification does not always have to give rise to affiliation to a pension scheme.
In the case of secondary activity, participation in insurance arises by operation of law only when the tax base of the self-employed activity reaches the so-called decisive amount. If a self-employed person wishes to participate in pension insurance earlier than when he or she submits an overview of income and expenditure for a given calendar year, he or she may voluntarily submit an application for pension insurance for that year at any time during the year, at the latest by the date on which the overview for that year is submitted.
If you pursue an ancillary activity, you may voluntarily apply to take part in insurance for a calendar year, if the tax base for that year has not reached the relevant amount. You can apply for pension insurance both in the main activity and in the secondary activity, if for some reason it is necessary to confirm that you are a member of the pension insurance during the given period. The application cannot be withdrawn.
The application may be submitted only on the prescribed form issued by the Czech Social Security Administration.
