Complaining to the Ministry of the Interior about organisational or technical aspects of elections to the European Parliament

Main information

If you are dissatisfied with the election process in your district or the conduct of the municipal or regional authority or the members of the district electoral commission in exercising your right to vote, and you have already been unsuccessful in seeking protection from the regional authority, you have the right to file a complaint against the regional authority with the Ministry of the Interior

The Ministry of the Interior cannot objectively assess the complaint if you have not first sought protection from the regional authority.

This applies to you if

You are dissatisfied with the election process in your district, municipality or region, you have complained to your regional authority, and that authority did not uphold your complaint.

When to use this service

You may file a complaint at any time; however, you are advised to file it as possible so that, where appropriate, it can be redressed in a timely manner.

Example: the mayor has neglected to publish a notice about the time and place of elections in the municipality by the statutory deadline. You first need to complain to the municipal authority, and thus give the mayor an opportunity to redress the matter. If the matter is not dealt with, file a complaint with the relevant regional authority, which will investigate the matter and may issue an order for the matter to be redressed. If the matter is still not rectified, you may then seek redress from the Ministry of the Interior.
