Registration of a branch of a European higher education institution for information obligations

If you want to provide foreign higher education as a branch of a European foreign higher education institution in the Czech Republic, you must first register at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to information obligations before you start providing education.

This applies to you if

You are a domestic legal entity operating as a branch of an European foreign higher education institution located in the EU and you intend to provide European foreign academic education in the Czech Republic.

In any time before you start to provide higher education.

What you need if you are using this service

The application, the form can be found on the website MŠMT.

Attachments should include: 

  • documents proving establishment and operation in the home country as a state-recognised higher education institution,
  • proof of accreditation or other form of recognition of the foreign higher education programme under the legislation of your home country,
  • an agreement or other documents proving and regulating the cooperation of the domestic legal entity with the relevant foreign higher education institution,
  • information on the study in the foreign higher education study programme, in particular on its content, organisation, the scope and extent of studies, the rights and obligations of students, the foreign academic or other degree awarded and the employability of graduates

All required documents and information must be submitted in the original text or certified copies, with an official translation into Czech.

Registering to information obligations you comply legal obligation and you are authorised to provide European foreign higher education in the Czech Republic.

Sanctions

If you provide European foreign higher education without fulfilment of registration for information obligations, you risk a fine in misdemeanor proceedings of up to CZK 500,000.
