Main information
The European Schools are established on the basis of the Convention defining the Statute of the European Schools, in particular for the children of the staff of the EU institutions, but also for the children of staff from the Permanent Representations and other representations of the Member States to the European Communities.
The European Schools educate not only the children of staff of the European Union institutions, but also the children of staff from permanent representations and other representations, and the children of teachers and administrative staff of the School. In the case of vacancies, children of employees of private companies and other persons may also attend the European Schools.
The European Schools are taught in all the languages of the Member States of the European Union, while the Czech sections of the European Schools are established at the European Schools in Brussels III and Luxembourg.
Certificates (at the level of primary and secondary education) issued by the European Schools are recognised as equivalent according to the principles of the Convention on European Schools by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports on the basis of an application published on the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
The European Baccalaureate certificate is automatically considered equivalent to the Czech school-leaving certificate in grammar school. On request, the Ministry of Youth and Sports may issue a certificate of recognition of the equivalence of a foreign certificate in the Czech Republic.
This applies to you if
- You are a graduate of the European School according to the Convention on the Statute of the European Schools.
- You are interested in obtaining a document confirming that your (automatically valid) European Baccalaureate Certificate is recognised in the Czech Republic.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need to convert the educational documents attached to my application?
Documents in paper form up to 150 pages can be converted at public administration contact points. For reasons of time, it is not possible to perform a large-scale document conversion at contact points, but it is possible to use a specialized office of the Czech Post, which is equipped for these needs.
The converted document in electronic form may be handed over to the customer in one of the following ways:
- on CD (the customer receives the carrier free of charge at the contact point),
- on a USB flash drive (in case the customer brings their own drive),
- by uploading to the Czech POINT electronic depository. In this case, the customer is given a confirmation of inserting the document into the Storage Room either printed or by sending it to the data box.
