Admission to higher education institution

Admission to study at a higher education institution is a prerequisite for enrolment in a course of study, after which the applicant becomes a student at the higher education institution. An applicant may be admitted to a bachelor's, master's or doctoral programme. The higher education institution or a faculty may lay down additional conditions for admission to study relating to certain knowledge, skills or aptitudes or previous performance at secondary school or, where appropriate, at a higher vocational school or higher education institution.

You meet the conditions for admission to a study programme according to Section 48 of Act No. 111/1998 Sb.

The condition for admission to study in a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme is the achievement of secondary education with a matriculation examination.

Admission to study in a master's degree programme which is a continuation of a bachelor's degree programme is also conditional on the completion of studies in any type of degree programme.

Exceptionally, applicants who have not attained secondary education with the baccalaureate examination or higher vocational education at a conservatoire may also be admitted to study in the arts.

Admission to a doctoral programme is subject to the completion of a master's degree programme and, in the field of art, to the award of an academic degree.

Application form. And further:

  • for undergraduate studies: an officially certified copy of the matriculation certificate, graduates of a foreign school nostrified document - an officially certified copy of the nostrification of the matriculation examination certificate. Applicants may present the above documents when enrolling in the study.
  • for Master's studies: a document (specified by the internal regulations of the university) of the completion of Bachelor's studies or its foreign equivalent.
  • for doctoral studies: proof (specified in the internal regulations of the university) of having completed a master's degree or its foreign equivalent.

The service can be applied for at a higher education institution in the Czech Republic. Each college determines its own application process. Information is provided by the higher education institution (usually on its website).

Kolik budete platit

The application fee is set by each higher education institution. Its maximum amount for 2025 is 990 CZK. The maximum fee may vary from year to year.

Applicants are entitled to enroll in studies upon receiving confirmation that they have been admitted to studies.

Možnosti odvolání

According to § 50 of Act No. 111/1998 Sb., the applicants are entitled to appeal against the decision within fifteen days from its announcement. The appeal administrative body is represented by the Rector. The Rector shall review compliance of the negative decision and proceedings preceding the issuing of the decision with legal provisions, internal regulations of the higher education institution and with admission requirements stipulated by the higher education institution.
