The child's legal guardian (parent) is obliged to enrol the child for compulsory school attendance between 1 April and 30 April of the calendar year in which the child is due to start compulsory school attendance. Parents can enrol their child in the catchment school of their place of residence or any other school listed in the school register.

The principal shall publish information about the organisation and conduct of enrolment in the manner customary in the locality and in a manner allowing remote access well in advance. The published information also includes the admission criteria set by the school principal.

Submit an application to enrol your child for compulsory education at a primary school. Attach to the application:

• name and surname of the applicant (child),
• date of birth,
• place of permanent residence, or other address for delivery,
• name of the administrative authority to which the application is addressed (the specific primary school).

With regard to the legal representation of the child by their legal guardian or other person authorised to do so, it is also essential to ascertain:

• name and surname of that representative,
• place of residence of that representative, or other address for delivery.

If the child is represented by a person other than their legal guardian, it is also essential that they documents their authority to represent the child.

The submission must show who is making it, the matter to which it relates and what is proposed. The representative of the party to the proceedings (the legal guardian of the child) is obliged to present their identity card at the request of the authorised official (§ 36(5) of the Administrative Code).
