Main information
The language of instruction in schools in the Czech Republic is Czech. If a primary or secondary school wishes to teach certain subjects in a foreign language, teaching in a foreign language must be authorised by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS).
In higher vocational schools it is possible to educate students in a foreign language directly on the basis of an accredited educational program.
Permission to teach certain subjects in a foreign language does not apply to the teaching of the Czech language, the teaching of foreign languages and the teaching of Czech facts in the subjects of history and geography.
Teaching of some subjects in a foreign language can take place in all or only in some years of the relevant field of education.
The Ministry of Education may allow the teaching of certain subjects in one or more foreign languages.

The permit concerns elementary, elementary arts or secondary schools registered in the school register, which wish to offer pupils instruction in a foreign language.
When to use this service
The school may apply for permission to teach certain subjects in a foreign language until 31 March for the following school year (from 1 September).

What you need if you are using this service
The application form is not set out, but should contain the following elements:
- the curriculum of the school curriculum, including notes on the curriculum;
- a summary of subjects or parts thereof taught in a foreign language, indicating the number of hours in each year and the total number of hours in the relevant fields of education,
- the method of staffing the teaching of subjects in a foreign language in the relevant fields of education,
- the method of material provision of teaching subjects in a foreign language in the relevant fields of education,
- the method of financially ensuring the teaching of subjects in a foreign language in the relevant fields of education,
- positive opinion of the founder of the school,
- A positive opinion from the school board.

A school that offers teaching of certain subjects in a foreign language has a wider educational offer and thus an advantage over other comparable schools in terms of pupils' interest in admission to this school and the results of pupils' education.
