The legal guardian of a child for whom pre-school education is compulsory may, in justified cases, choose for the child to be educated individually (i.e. home-schooling).

During the school year, the obligation of individual pre-school education can be fulfilled no earlier than from the date on which the notification of the child's individual education is delivered to the principal of the kindergarten where the child has been admitted to pre-school education.

The principal of the kindergarten shall recommend to the legal representative of the child who is being individually educated the areas in which the child is to be educated. These areas are based on the framework curriculum for pre-school education. The kindergarten shall verify the level of mastering the expected outcomes in the individual areas and, where appropriate, recommend to the legal representative further educational progress; the manner and dates of verification, including alternative dates, shall be determined by the school regulations so that verification takes place between the 3rd and 4th month after the beginning of the school year. The legal representative of a child who is being individually educated is obliged to ensure the child's participation in the verification.

The principal of the kindergarten where your child has been admitted to pre-school education will terminate the child's individual education if you do not ensure that your child attends the verification of their mastering the expected outcomes, even on the alternative date.

A notice of the child's individual education must be submitted, which includes

1. name(s) and surname,
2. personal number,
3. place of permanent residence of the child, in the case of a foreigner the place of residence of the child,
4. period during which the child is to be individually educated,
5. and reasons for the child's individual education.

There is no central form, sometimes kindergartens have their own forms on their websites.

Možnosti odvolání

Appeals against a decision not to allow individual education and against a decision to terminate individual education are decided by the competent regional authority or Prague City Hall according to the location of the kindergarten. The appeal shall be submitted through the school principal.
