Notification of temporary provision of guide services in the Czech Republic

Main information

Before providing a guide service in the Czech Republic for the first time, you must notify the Ministry of Regional Development.

The right to temporarily provide services in the territory of the Czech Republic is based on Article 56 et seq. of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

A citizen of an EU Member State with the right to pursue the activity of a guide or a legal person whose internal affairs are governed by the law of an EU Member State and who has its registered office, central law or principal place of business in an EU Member State must notify the Ministry of Regional Development before providing the service for the first time in the Czech Republic.

The guide carrying out this activity for the above-mentioned persons is obliged to prove himself/herself during the check with an identity card, a notification sent to the Ministry of Regional Development, a document certifying his/her contractual relationship with this person and a document proving the authorisation of this person to carry out the activity of a guide in his/her country of establishment.

This applies to you if

  • You are an EU citizen authorised to operate as a guide. Citizens of other Contracting States to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, citizens of the Swiss Confederation and juridical persons established in the territory of those States shall also be considered as such persons.
  • You are a legal person whose internal affairs are governed by the law of an EU Member State and who has its registered office, central law or principal place of business in an EU Member State.
  • N.B.: If you work for the above-mentioned legal entity or natural person - entrepreneur, the data in the notification is always filled in for that person, not for you as an employee in an employment or other contractual relationship.

What is the benefit of this service

The state has an overview of active guides on its territory and clients are better protected from unauthorised provision of guide services by guides from other EU Member States.

Appeal options

There are no appeal options.

Sanctions

  1. Up to CZK 100,000 - A legal or natural person fails to comply with the obligation to notify the Ministry of Regional Development in writing before providing the service for the first time in the Czech Republic.
  2. Up to CZK 10,000 - A legal or natural person does not ensure that a person who performs the activities of a guide for him/her is able to prove himself/herself during the inspection by a document certifying their contractual relationship or by a document proving his/her entitlement to perform the activities of a guide in his/her country of establishment.
