Interruption of Studies at a Tertiary Vocational School

Main information

The director of the school may interrupt your studies for a maximum of 2 years, based on an application for interruption submitted to the director.

The director is obliged to interrupt the studies of a female student for reasons of pregnancy and maternity if:

  • the practical training takes place at workplaces or in forms of work prohibited for pregnant women and mothers up to the end of the ninth month after childbirth, or
  • the teaching endangers the pregnancy according to a medical assessment.

During the period of interruption, you are not a student of the tertiary vocational school.

After the interruption ends, you continue your studies in the year in which you interrupted them.

With the director's approval, you may continue in a higher year, provided you demonstrate the necessary knowledge and practical skills, including how they were acquired.

The director may also, upon request, terminate the interruption earlier than originally approved, if no serious obstacles prevent this.

This applies to you if

You wish to interrupt your studies at a tertiary vocational school, or you must interrupt them due to pregnancy.
