Immediate emergency assistance

Main information

Immediate emergency assistance is a one-off benefit and a non-entitlement benefit, to which you are entitled if the relevant branch of the Czech Labour Office recognises you as a person in material need, because you are in one of six social situations.

Immediate emergency assistance is always linked to a specific expenditure situation for which you do not have enough funds. You must specify the expenditure in the application form. The benefit may be granted to you more than once in justified cases.

This applies to you if

You need one-off assistance in the event of an unexpected life event, such as:

• a risk of harm to health (you have an income that is below the minimum subsistence, i.e. CZK 3 130);
• a serious incident (e.g. natural disaster, fire),
• necessary expenditure, e.g. on administrative fees, collateral, overnight accommodation,
• necessary expenditure on the education or leisure activities of a dependent child,
• necessary expenditure on the acquisition or repair of essential household equipment,
• a risk of social exclusion (e.g. after release from prison),

and you are recognised by the relevant office of the Czech Labour Office as a person in material need, because you are in one of six social situations.

You can apply for the service if you find yourself in a situation that you cannot solve alone.

What you need if you are using this service

When submitting an application for immediate emergency assistance, you need to fill in the Application for immediate emergency assistance form, and the relevant annexes. To help you complete all forms, you will find completed templates below each one.

Please include the following in the application:

• Identity card for each person.
• Birth certificate for children under 15 years of age, or if the birth surname is not included on the identity card.
• For dependent children who have completed compulsory education, and always from the school year beginning in the calendar year in which the child reaches the age of 15:
  • ‘Certificate of study’ – Certificate of study, or
  • ‘Health certificate issued by the Czech Labour Office or proving inability to carry out ongoing gainful employment due to a long-term health condition’ – Health certificate of a dependent child, or
  • ‘Health certificate issued by the attending doctor attesting to the inability to systematically prepare for a future occupation or to carry out gainful employment due to illness or an accident’ – Certificate of inability of a dependent child to systematically prepare for a future occupation or to carry out gainful employment due to illness or an accident.
• Certificate of release from prison, or a health institution, an official record from the Czech Police, etc. (according to the type of application for immediate emergency assistance benefit).

Where and how to solve this service

Submit the application at the local branch of the Czech Labour Office according to the place of permanent residence (place of residence). The contact details of local branches can be found on the Czech Labour Office website in the Regional Branches section.

Where and how to solve this service

You can submit an application for immediate emergency assistance on the Czech Labour Office website, Application for immediate emergency assistance. 

For online submission via a website, a data box or a qualified electronic signature certificate is required.

The form and separate annexes can be filled in on the Czech Labour Office website – the online form and annexes can be filled in separately, and submitted separately. Alternatively, you can fill them in as one online form with annexes, where you progressively fill in the form and the relevant annexes, which will all be sent electronically as one submission.

What is the benefit of this service

Provision of immediate emergency assistance when you find yourself in a specific situation that you cannot solve alone without emergency and immediate assistance from the State.

Appeal options

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the immediate emergency assistance procedure, you can appeal against the ‘Decision’ within 15 days of its receipt. You can lodge an appeal at the regional branch of the Czech Labour Office which decided on the benefit. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs will then decide on the appeal.
