Homologation of specified firearms

Prior to the placing on the market of weapons referred to in Section 6(2) of Act No 156/2000, the person intending to place these weapons on the market must submit to the Czech Proof House for Firearms and Ammunition a specified firearm for verification that the specified firearm meets the technical requirements, that the technical documentation is complete, and that the submitter has calibrated gauges and tools and has a technical control system in place. This is known as the homologation process. The specified firearms are not subject to homologation if a maximum of five units of this weapon are to be placed on the market in one year.

If you are a manufacturer, importer, exporter, distributor or repairer of weapons subject to homologation and you wish to place such weapons on the market.

You can use this service at any time before the specified weapons are placed on the market.

Upon receipt of the application, you will be notified of the requirements for the processing of the application, while a certificate or the relevant decision will be issued within 90 days. In complex cases, this period may be extended by 30 days.

You may apply for homologation if you are a natural person or legal person that is a manufacturer, importer, exporter, distributor or repairer of the specified firearms. 

The application, which must contain the requisites pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Code (Section 45(1) of the Administrative Procedure Code), must be accompanied by: 

  • information on the product type, including production versions, with the following data
    • 1. the type, make, model and calibre for the specified firearm and a specified accessory,
    • 2. the type, make and calibre for the specified ammunition,
  • in the case of import, the name and registered office of the manufacturer,
  • information that homologation is being applied for,
  • technical and accompanying documentation to the extent specified by a decree of the Ministry,
  • documents certifying the accuracy of the information provided in the application.

The submitter shall attach to the application one example of the specified firearm and the smallest consumer package of ammunition used in the submitted specified firearm. 

An administrative fee must be paid at the same time.

Kolik budete platit

The issuing of a certificate of homologation for a weapon is subject to an administrative fee of CZK 10 000. 

The price for homologation:
of an expansion device 25 000
of an expansion weapon 25 000
of a firearm 27 000
of a gas-powered weapon 10 000

Based on the certificate, you can place the weapon on the market, which means any provision, or offer to provide, without consideration or for consideration, such weapon for distribution or use, or the transfer of ownership of the indicated weapon by a manufacturer, importer, distributor or repairer in the Czech Republic

Možnosti odvolání

An appeal against a decision to refuse homologation may be lodged with the Czech Proof House for Firearms and Ammunition pursuant to Section 81 of the Administrative Procedure Code. The appellate body is the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Legislativa

Sankce

Section 22a(1)(b) of Act No 156/2000 sanctions the placing on the market or distribution of controlled products that do not meet the specified technical requirements.

The mere failure to submit specified weapons for homologation is not sanctioned if they are not placed on the market or distributed.
