How ballot papers are delivered to voters for elections to the European Parliament

Voters receive a set of ballot papers for elections to the European Parliament, stating basic information about the candidate entities and their candidates who can be voted for.

You are eligible to vote in elections to the European Parliament.

A voter in the European Parliament elections is one of the following:

  • a Czech citizen who has reached the age of 18 by one of the election days,
  • a citizen of another EU Member State who
    • has reached the age of 18 by one of the election days, and
    • registered as a permanent or temporary resident in the Czechia at least 45 days before election day.

Ballot papers must be delivered to all voters no later than 3 days before election day (i.e. by the Tuesday of election week).

If a voter does not receive the ballot papers at their permanent residence (for foreign nationals, their registered residential address in Czechia) by this time, they can contact their municipal authority, or they may receive them at the polling station from the district electoral commission upon request.

If a voter does not receive the ballot forms at their home by 3 days before the elections (i.e. by the Tuesday of election week), they may contact the relevant municipal authority (depending on their place of residence), or may receive them at the polling station from the district electoral commission upon request.

If a voter does not receive the ballot forms at their home by 3 days before the first day of elections to the European Parliament (i.e. by the Tuesday of election week) and therefore decides to contact their municipal authority, they may do so in person, by post, by data box, by email or by telephone, stating their first name, surname, date of birth and permanent address and requesting that the municipal authority remedy the matter.

If a vote would like to receive undelivered ballot forms at the polling station, they must request this orally, presenting proof of their identity.
