Parents are obliged to pay a care allowance for a child placed in a school institution for institutional upbringing on the basis of a court decision. The head of a school facility in administrative proceedings decides on the amount of the contribution to the payment of care provided to children and dependent persons in the facility to the extent according to the age of the child, or according to the documented income of parents.

If you are a parent of a child who, on the basis of a court decision on an interim measure, ordering institutional upbringing or imposing protective upbringing, has been placed in a school institution for the performance of institutional or protective upbringing:
- a children's home,
- a children's home with a school,
- diagnostic institute, educational institute
you are obliged to pay a contribution to cover the child's care in the facility provided.

What is the benefit of this service
The child placed in the facility is provided with:
- full direct provision (catering, accommodation and clothing, teaching supplies and aids);
- Reimbursement of strictly necessary training costs;
- reimbursement of the costs of health services, pharmaceuticals and medical devices not covered by health insurance, unless health services have been requested by the child’s legal representatives,
- pocket money,
- personal gifts,
- in-kind assistance for the removal of minors from the establishment; and
- reimbursement of transport costs to the seat of the school.
Appeal options
The decision on the amount of the care allowance may be appealed to the superior administrative body through the director of the establishment that issued the decision. The appeal must be duly substantiated and accompanied by documents showing that the decision cannot be complied with (documents on income, social benefits, material distress, etc.).
