Child allowance

Hlavní informace

The child allowance is the basic income-tested benefit for a dependent child living in a family with a lower income. Lower income means that the decisive (net) income in the family is less than 3.4 times the family’s living minimum.

One application for the child allowance is submitted and subsequently only the decisive income of the family for the previous calendar quarter is documented every quarter.

If the parents of a dependent minor child are divorced, the child is assessed with the parent with whom they live. If, after a divorce, the child is entrusted to the joint or alternate care of both parents, the parent designated based on the agreement between these parents is assessed with the dependent minor child.

An adult dependent child is assessed with the parents if the parents and the child are registered for permanent residence at the same address. If this condition is not met, the adult dependent child is assessed separately.

If a dependent child is in the full and direct care of an institution (facility) for the care of children or young people, this child is assessed separately.
