Main information
A foreign school in the territory of the Czech Republic may apply to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) for permission to perform compulsory schooling if:
- education according to a foreign educational program,
- is established in the territory of the Czech Republic by a foreign state, a legal entity established outside the territory of the Czech Republic or a foreign citizen,
- is not registered in the register of schools and educational establishments and, because of the application of the content of a foreign educational programme, does not apply for registration in the register of schools and educational establishments.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports authorises the fulfilment of compulsory schooling in a foreign school in the Czech Republic for a maximum period of 5 years.

The applicant is a foreign school.
If that school is not established as a legal person, the applicant shall be its founder.
When to use this service
The application shall be submitted by 31 January preceding the school year in which the authorisation is to take effect.

What you need if you are using this service
The application must be accompanied by:
- a document or documents certifying the establishment, legal status, business name or name, registered office and subject of activity of a legal person, if the activity of the school will be carried out by the legal person, or a document or documents certifying the establishment and subject of activity of the school and the establishment, legal status, business name or name, registered office and subject of activity of the founder of the school, if the school is not established as a legal person; in the case of a school established in the territory of the Czech Republic at the diplomatic mission or consular post of a foreign state, a document or documents certifying the establishment and the subject of activity of the school,
- an educational programme according to which pupils will complete compulsory schooling;
- a document issued by the highest authority of the state administration in the field of education or other competent administrative authority of the relevant foreign state, from which it follows that the foreign educational program is identical to the educational program of the same type of school valid in the territory of the given foreign state, or that the school is considered in the given foreign state as part of its educational system, or that the school is a member of the organization of foreign or international schools, by which the issued documents of educational attainment are granted legal effects in the given foreign state without the need for prior verification or recognition of their equivalence,
- specimens of all certificates or other educational documents issued by the school, in the language of instruction,
- proof of the applicant’s entitlement to provide education;
- framework description - staffing of teaching, material provision of teaching, documents certifying the applicant's right to use the premises in which teaching will take place, documents certifying that these premises can be used for the given purpose in accordance with the law,
- an indication of the maximum number of pupils possible at the proposed place of teaching.
The above documents, in addition to the school’s educational programme, shall be submitted in the original or an officially certified copy.
All documents shall be accompanied by an officially certified translation into Czech.
