Application for registration of a change in the register of schools and educational establishments carried out by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports

As part of this service, you can submit an application for registration of a change in the data entered in the register of schools and educational establishments (the register).

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (‘MEYS’) keeps in the register data on:

• kindergartens, educational establishments established by the Ministry, registered churches or religious societies, which have been granted the right to exercise the special right to establish ecclesiastical schools; and
• other schools,
• school facilities for the further education of teaching staff,
• school counselling facilities,
• school facilities for institutional or protective education or preventive educational care; and
• school purpose-built facilities in which practical teaching takes place,
• kindergartens and school catering facilities serving them established by other ministries and other organisational units of the State.

The service concerns legal entities registered in the register of schools and educational establishments who need to update the data kept in the register in accordance with the Schools Act.

When to use this service

Applications for registration of a change in the register of schools and educational establishments with effect for the following school year shall be subject to a deadline of 30 September.

These are changes in the data:

• a list of fields of education, including forms of education, or a list of school services;
• the maximum number of children, pupils and students allowed in a school or educational establishment, including their separated workplaces, beds, boarding, classes, groups or other similar units, specified in the decision on entry in the register of schools and educational establishments;
• the maximum number of pupils and students permitted in the various fields of education and forms of education,
• an indication of the place where the education or school services take place; in the case of a forest nursery school, an indication of the area where, in particular, the pedagogical programme takes place and where the school has facilities; in the case of a forest nursery school, an indication of the area where the school services are carried out.

In exceptional cases worthy of special consideration, the Ministry may waive the deadline for submitting the application or decide on the earlier effectiveness of the registration.

An application for entry in the register of schools and educational establishments of a change to the information set out below shall be submitted within 30 days of the date on which the change occurred.

These are changes in the data:

• the name, registered office, e-mail address, data box identifier, identification number, if any, legal form and sector identifier of the legal entity that carries out the activities of the school or educational establishment;
• the name, registered office, e-mail address, data box identifier and identification number, if assigned, and the legal form of the founder of a school legal entity or a contributory organisation, if it is a legal entity, name and surname, nationality, place of permanent residence or residence, if it does not have a permanent residence in the Czech Republic, and the date of birth of that founder, if it is a natural person;
• the name, surname, address of the place of stay or residence, if it does not have the address of the place of stay in the Czech Republic, and the date of birth of the headmaster of the school or educational establishment,

In the case of a secondary or higher vocational school, the regional authority shall decide on the registration of a change in the maximum permitted number of pupils and students in the individual fields of education and forms of education, unless it is a secondary or higher vocational school established by the Ministry or registered churches or religious societies, which have been granted the right to exercise the special right to establish ecclesiastical schools; in this case, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports decides. The application for registration of the above change in the schools of other founders must be addressed to the locally competent regional authority.

In exceptional cases worthy of special consideration, the Ministry may waive the deadline for submitting the application or decide on the earlier effectiveness of the registration.

What is the benefit of this service

The effectiveness of the registration of the change in the register of schools and educational establishments gives rise to a legal person who performs the activity of a school or educational establishment, the right to provide education and educational services and the right to issue educational documents, within the scope of this registration.

At the same time, it entitles that legal person to the allocation of funds from the State budget or from the budget of a local authority under the conditions laid down in this Act.
