Admission to the first year of the six-year conservatory

Main information

A conservatory is a professional art school designed for exceptionally talented or gifted pupils in the fields of music, singing, dance or musical ‑dramatic art.

Depending on the field of study and the chosen programme of study, the duration of study may be four, six or eight years.

The six-year programmes combine secondary and subsequently higher vocational education. During the fourth year, pupils can pass the school-leaving examination, while after the sixth year they finish their education with an graduation, thereby obtaining higher vocational education in the Conservatory and the DiS designation. This model is standard at most music conservatories.

Admission to the conservatory is always associated with a talent test, which is an essential condition for admission to study. Candidates demonstrate their artistic skills, knowledge and prerequisites for the chosen field, while meeting the requirements for medical fitness.

From the school year 2026/2027, the director of the conservatory will announce the first round of the admission procedure in the period from 15 October to 31 October.

The Talent Exam takes place from 2 January to 17 January in the first round of the 2026/2027 school year.

The specific dates and detailed conditions of the admission procedure are set by each conservatory separately in the announced criteria.

This applies to you if

  1. You are a person talented or gifted in music, singing, contemporary dance or dramatic art.
  2. You have a background in elementary art school (not a condition).

If you are a minor, your parents - legal guardians - decide whether to apply to the í Conservatory, but you must agree to apply even if you are a minor.

The condition of admission is the fulfillment of the requirements of the admission procedure, i.e. especially the success of the talent test, the content and form of which is determined by the headmaster of the school.
