Frequently asked questions

Is the diploma without it’s official recognition valid?
Legally issued foreign diplomas are in Czech Republic valid without necessity of their official recognition. The official recognition may be required only in cases that are stated in law (primarily for purpose of further study in Czech Republic).
May I use the academic title without its official recotnition?
Nostrification is not about recognizing of academic titles, but of diplomas and their contents. Foreign diploma holder may regularly use the title in the exact form as it is written on the diploma. There is no way how to use title that was not granted by the diploma, not even Czech akademic titles of same level of education. The only legal regulation of title usage is mentioning the title in national identity card; nostrification is required for that.
Is nostrification necessary for working (job) purposes?
Law does not require diploma recognition for the purpose how to prove the education for working (job) purposes. In case of regulated professions there is a different procedure about recognition of professional qualification. In case of alumnis with education from coutries outside European Economic Area the nostrification is a requirement for further application for recognition of professional qualification in regulated professions.
How long will it take for the HEI to process my application and what is the legal deadline for processing it?
The legal deadline is 30 days, but the HEI usually processes the application sooner.
