Citizens of other EU Member States may vote and stand as candidates within the Czech Republic in municipal council elections and in elections to the European Parliament. Citizens of third countries do not have these rights.

  • If you want to vote in municipal council elections, apply for entry of a foreigner in the annex to the electoral register and changes thereto
  • If you want to vote for Czech candidates in elections to the European Parliament, submit your request to be entered in the electoral register for elections to the European Parliament or your request as a foreign national to have your data transferred to the electoral register for elections to the European Parliament (if you also vote in municipal elections in the Czech Republic).
  • If you want to stand as a candidate in one of these elections, more information is available here: can I stand as a candidate if I am a foreign national?

The right of EU citizens to vote in a local referendum also entails the right to vote in municipal council elections.
