Municipalities, within the exercise of delegated powers, operate cemeteries and crematoria and are in charge of the agenda of funeral duties, the so-called social funerals. Self-governing regional authorities methodically steer and oversee them therein. MRD refunds all incurred costs to the municipalities for authorizing the funeral and securing a burial plot. The municipality application for reimbursement of funeral and cemetery expenses shall be demonstrated by evidence furnished by a notary who, in the capacity of judicial commissioner, stopped the inheritance proceedings due to the testator's destitution. If the property is negligible, the court commissioner shall offer it to the municipality as a remuneration for authorizing funeral. Where the inheritance proceedings have been concluded, the municipality is obligated to recover the costs of the funeral and grave from the heirs. Heirs are not entitled to receive an urn deposited in a burial ground; they may rent the urn grave in question if the cemetery operator and the renter agree, or they may apply for the exhumation of the urn.
