Adoption is to be understood as taking a person of another, usually a child, to be one’s own The existence of such a relationship between the adoptive parent and the adopted child which exists between a parent and a child, or at least a basis for such a relationship, is a pre-requisite for adoption. Based on a court decision on adoption, an adoptive parent or adoptive parents are registered in the registry of births, deaths and marriages as the parent or parents of the child.
It is possible to adopt a minor as well as an adult, and it is also possible to adopt a spouse’s child.
No person may obtain unfair profit from the activities associated with the arrangement of adoption.
