Denial of maternity

The law allows maternity to be denied. In the case of denial and determination of maternity, a court will address the question of who demonstrably gave birth to the child. Determination of maternity is possible both in the case where the mother is not known to the registry of births, deaths and marriages (the child is a foundling), and also in the case where a person other than the one who gave birth is registered (the swapping of the child or the mother’s identity in the maternity hospital).
