Adoption of an adult that is not analogous to adoption of a minor

Unless it is to the detriment the best interests of the descendants of the adoptive parent or the adopted person, an adult may also be adopted in exceptional cases for reasons deserving special consideration, if it is mutually beneficial for the adoptive parent and the adopted person, or, in justified cases, for at least one of them.

An adopted person and their descendants do not establish a family relationship with the members of the adoptive parent’s family and do not acquire any property rights against them. By adoption, an adoptive parent does not acquire any property rights with respect to the adopted child and their descendants. By adoption, the adopted person and their descendants do not lose the rights in their own family.

The rules for the adoption of a minor, including the consequences of adoption, apply in the same way.
