Vaccination

In Czechia, regular vaccinations are mandatory under the provisions of Section 46(1) of Act No 258/2000 on the protection of public health.

In the case of a minor who has not reached the age of fifteen, their legal representative is responsible for meeting this obligation.

Regular vaccinations for children under the decree on vaccination against infectious diseases include vaccination against:

  • diphtheria
  • tetanus
  • whooping cough
  • invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae b
  • poliomyelitis
  • viral hepatitis B
  • measles
  • rubella
  • mumps
  • in children at risk, tuberculosis

Regular vaccinations, including booster vaccinations, are fully covered by the insurance company.

The law imposes an obligation on all natural persons to submit to the specified type of vaccination within the specified deadlines. This is not therefore the right to be vaccinated, but an obligation to undergo vaccination. Vaccination is not carried out solely on the grounds laid down by law, i.e. with laboratory-proven immunity against a disease (the situation in which a patient has already had the disease) or if there is a change in health status that prevents vaccination (a permanent contraindication). Both of these reasons must be properly documented in the patient's medical records.
