SERVICE DESCRIPTION
If a child is born in the territory of the Czech Republic who is an EU citizen, the same rules will apply to the child as to all EU citizens and the child’s legal guardian is not required to apply for any residence permit for the child’s stay in the Czech Republic. However, if the EU citizen born will be staying in the territory of the Czech Republic for more than 3 months, the child’s legal guardian may apply at a MOI office for a certificate of temporary residence of an EU citizen (registration certificate).
THIS APPLIES TO YOU, IF you are an EU citizen and your child was born in the territory of the Czech Republic. You may file an application for a certificate of temporary residence of an EU citizen for you child, if the child will be staying in the country for more than 3 months.

WHEN TO USE THE SERVICE
You address this situation, if your child (an EU citizen) was born in the territory of the Czech Republic and you wish to apply for some kind of a residence permit for the child.
If an EU citizen is born in the territory of the Czech Republic, the same rules will apply to the child as to all EU citizens, and therefore the child’s legal guardian is not required to apply for any residence permit for the child’s stay in the Czech Republic.
If the newborn EU citizen will be staying in the Czech Republic for more than 3 months, the child’s legal guardian may apply for a certificate of temporary residence of an EU citizen (registration certificate) for the newborn.

WHAT YOU NEED IF YOU USE THE SERVICE ELECTRONICALLY
An application for a certificate of temporary residence is to be filed as a filled-out application form.
The application forms are available on the website of the Information Portal for Foreigners.
The documents required to be enclosed with an application for a certificate of temporary residence of an EU citizen are*:
a travel document; as a substitute for this, a travel document of the foreign national (the legal guardian), in which the child is entered, can be submitted
2 photographs
documentary evidence of medical insurance
a proof of accommodation
a document certifying that the child is a family member of an EU citizen (a birth certificate)
*The documents required to be enclosed with the application must not be older than 180 days, with the exception of the travel document, the vital records certificate and the applicant’s photograph, as long as it corresponds to their actual appearance. It is always necessary to submit the originals or officially authenticated copies of the documents. As for the travel document and the vital records documents, their originals must be submitted.

Send the filled out application form, along with the documents, in accordance with the Rules of Administrative Procedure to the official contacts of the Ministry of the Interior by e-mail with a recognised electronic signature, with all attachments being in the format of authorised conversion, or to the data box.

The processing of an application for a certificate of temporary residence of an EU citizen is free of charge.

The application with the required documents is to be submitted in a Ministry of the Interior office.
Or you can send the filled out application form along with the documents in accordance with the Rules of Administrative Procedure by mail directly to the Ministry of the Interior office.
It is always necessary to submit the originals or officially authenticated copies of the documents. Do not send the original of the travel document by mail. In this case, it is possible to send a simple copy of the travel document, and you will submit its original later when the certificate of temporary residence is issued to you.

The processing of an application for a certificate of temporary residence of an EU citizen is free of charge.
OPTIONS FOR APPEAL
You can appeal against the decision within 15 days of the delivery of the decision. You can file the appeal in person or send it by mail (or electronically) to the given office of the Ministry of the Interior or to the contact address of the Ministry of the Interior.
